My Story

My story begins with me. But it ends with you.

Growing up I knew nothing about food, my family ate a very typical standard American diet and we never thought twice about it. Just before college, I began having acid reflux and my doctors decided it was best to remove my gallbladder. That was the first of many medical interventions that led to the slow but continual downfall of my health. Over the next few years I was at the mercy of several doctors practicing usual western medicine, one medication after the next, until I was so ill I had to drop out of school. It wasn't until I began learning about nutrition and making major dietary changes that I finally found relief and began my recovery in 2009. Since that time, I have been whole-heartedly devoted to studying the holistic perspective of optimal health and wellness.

In 2010 I graduated from UCSB with a double major in Communications and Religious Studies. I went on to pursue my passion for health at Bauman College, a school for holistic nutrition and culinary arts. I became a license certified Nutrition Consultant in the fall of 2012 and opened my own practice in the new year of 2013.

I began giving general nutritional care to a wide variety of adults with different ailments, a few children and some elderly. But my greatest passion has always been for children. If my family or I had been given any initial dietary or nutritional support I would never have had to endure such suffering. I am grateful for my journey, but trust me, prevention is truly the best medicine.

In the summer of 2013, my passion became a reality when I became the in-house nutritionist at Dr. Iris Pediatrics. I have had the incredible privilege of helping hundreds of children with problematic issues such as feeding difficulties, eczema, allergies, constipation, loose stool, failure to thrive, anemia, sensory issues, speech delays, and the extensive range of behavioral issues that can land your children in the autism spectrum today. Sadly, this list is nowhere near extensive and is continually growing! It's time to intervene and preventative, holistic, integrative care is the answer.

My personal journey, education and work experience have led me to focus my practice on the 'perinatal period'; beginning two years before conception, continuing in the 'year' of your pregnancy and through your baby's first three years of life. My goal is that every Mommy thrives and that every Baby's healthy.

Wherever you may be in regards to your family, whether you are trying to conceive or not even thinking about it yet, already pregnant or have an infant and maybe even a toddler, Wholesome Practices was created for you!

***I am not an MD  nor a physician. I do not treat nor diagnose disease. My service is focused on diet and lifestyle to help restore balance to the body, it does not replace medical care.
